כל מקרה לגופו, יש אקרילי ויש אקרילי..
כמו שיש מט ויש מט..
אקיצר, לנסות ולהוכח.

לכל צלחת יש השפעה שונה על הצליל
וגם לכל מט יש השפעה שונה על הצליל
לכן מייצרים צלחות מסוגים שונים
ועוד הרבה מאד מטים מסוגים שונים ( לי יש 7 סוגים שונים של מאטים ......)
אין כאן עניין של צריך או לא צריך, צריך לנסות ולראות אם השינוי מוסיף או גורע, לטעמך כמובן

at least according to Basis, a company that makes only acrylic platters. The act of a needle tracing the groove deforms the groove and sends waves of vibrational energy through the record. The close coupling of the record to a material with roughly the same elastic properties of the vinyl means that energy will be transmitted into the platter, where it will eventually dissipate, instead of being reflected back into the record where it will interefere with the part of the record being played. The close coupling is done with a clamp (a reflex type clamp with VPI and Basis tables), or in the case of my Basis table, with a vacuum clamping system. Because the idea is to closely couple the record to the hard platter surface, one should pay attention to keeping both the platter and the record fairly clean to avoid grinding crud into the groove. When not in play, I keep my platter covered by using a sacrificial record to do the job (a Charlie Rich album a friend gave to me that I don't intend to listen to).

This is at least the theory. In practice, some people like the different sound created by using an alternative form of mat. If you experiment in that direction, do carefully compensate for the change in platter thickness because that will affect VTA/SRA.
