NEWS: At IFA 2017, Sony unveiled the new Sony WH-1000XM2, a replacement to the MDR-1000X. The new headphones have numerous changes. The build quality is still excellent, with Sony slightly tweaking the finish of the headphones – to prevent them from getting damaged as easily as its predecessor.

Its improved battery life is its biggest achievement. Sony claims to have doubled it to 30 hours of playback through ANC mode, and 40 hours when in wired mode. The new Quick Charge feature is also new, and this gives you 1hr 10mins of battery life with just ten minutes of charging.

To help reduce ambient noise, but also make sure the headphones are not totally blocking important noises, Sony now includes a Personal NC Optimiser. This automatically adjusts the headphones to the environment you're in by detecting the atmosphere around you – making sure you don't miss that car or the important announcement on the train.

Finally, the Sony’s Headphones Connect app allows you to customise the headphones and allows you to tweak the active noise cancellation. At £330 for the new headphones, you're not paying that much more for the additional features.
